Sweet Mint Hydrosol

Mint is great herb for the skin barrier. Mint is part of the Lamiaceae family. Mint contains vitamins A, E and is naturally high in salycic acid. It can produce soothing and cooling sensations when applied to the skin. Mint is a mild astringent which is great for cleansing skin which makes this an excellent toner. This is from our own sweet mint plant that is growing on our property.  

Hydrosols are a wonderful addition as part of a good skincare routine; they naturally contain the water-soluble constituents of the plant and small trace amounts of essential oils that naturally occur in safe amounts in the plants. They are lightly fragrant of the plants they are made with.

How to use: You can incorporate this into your skin routine by spritzing liberally onto a clean face and then using your favorite moisturizer or serum and rubbing it into the wet skin (This is our favorite way to use it). By rubbing your moisturizer (we like using our illuminating salve) onto the hydrosol you help seal in the natural oils from the hydrosol into your skin which help it penetrate more deeply. Then finish it off by spraying once more and letting it completely dry without rubbing it off.

Second way to use it is by the spraying your face when you need a refresher and letting it dry. This can also be used as a toner, you can spray it onto a cotton ball and massage into your face. You can also spray it directly onto your scalp as well and soothe any scalp irritations. 

SHELF LIFE: Hydrosols need to be kept in a cool dark place with limited oxygen exposure (do not open the top). Your hydrosol should be used ideally within four-six months though you can keep it in refrigerator to extend the shelf life. We do regular microbial testing on our hydrosols to ensure they are free from bacterial growth. Our hydrosols are kept refrigerated until sold to ensure they are fresh.

Bonus Tip: store in the fridge to experience a cooling sensation.
