California Poppy Tincture

The California Poppy though it belongs to the poppy family has very different herbal actions then its opium poppy relatives. This poppy works as a nervine with very mild sedative effects. Its gentle enough that even children can use it as it has calming effects and promotes a good night's sleep. 

California poppy is excellent for anxiety and tension. It promotes relaxation, along with calming thoughts. It does aid in mild pain relief without being addictive, much of the pain-relieving benefits are in the roots, which are included in this tincture. We use the whole plant, flowers, leaves, and roots to increase maximum potency. Reach for California poppy when you need a good night's rest, have a pounding headache and cant get your body to release its tension. Or reach for it when you have menstrual pain, or muscle pains that run hot in your body that won't quit.

Energetics: Cooling, bitter.

Actions: Nervine (nerve calming), Hypnotic (sleep inducing), Antispasmodic (spasm relief), Anodyne(Pain relief)

Directions: Take 1-3 droppers full daily in water or juice. We recommend not taking this for longer than two weeks without taking a break for equal time. This gives your body a chance to rebalance and prevents the herb from becoming less effective.

Contraindications: Do not take California poppy if you are pregnant or breast feeding. Those on alternative pain medications may want to avoid this as it can interact or interfere with pain relieving pharmaceuticals.
